Pelmet Nites Glasgow Launch

Showcasing the best live musical talent in Scotland, Pelmet Nites have arrived on the West Coast!



Launching in 2006 as a frustrated reaction to the lack of good live music events in Dundee, the first Pelmet Nites saw Popup, Endor and Magdalen Green play to a 350 strong crowd in the Doghouse. A roaring success on the night, it was clear that Pelmet Nites had real potential to become more than just a one off showcase of what young Scottish bands had to offer.

Following on from this, further dates were booked and Pelmet Nites introduced the City of Discovery to three very Frightened Rabbits who supported My Latest Novel in just the second ever Pelmet Nites, and one of the bands first trips outside of Glasgow or their hometown Selkirk.
Other bands who graced these initial few shows included Our Lunar Activities with former Astrid frontman Charlie Clarke and Grace Emilys.

Moving forward from these early shows Pelmet Nites quickly became one of the most talked about 'nights' in Dundee, showcasing in a variety of venues across the city including a Tuesday night residency in Underground, and numerous shows in the Dundee University Union and were voted in the 'top 5 things to do in Dundee'.
The level to which bands rate Pelmet Nites can surely be measured from bands such as Frightened Rabbit, Twin Atlantic and Six Star Hotel who continue to show us their support by returning to play Pelmet Nites- for which we are hugely honoured and grateful.

The first Pelmet Nites outside of Dundee will take place on Wednesday 16th June. With the legendary Nice n Sleazy providing the backdrop for a big night of big sounds from Glasgow based GoGoBot and Arbroath outfit Quiver & the Lady Snatchers. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster, Ticketweb, or on the door.
