Music HQ's December Listings For Acoustic Wednesday
As winter draws in and Christmas looms ever closer Music HQ have a great couple of gigs to finish the year off in style.
6th December - Circus Envy, The Redwood Thinkers, Joe Solo, Tony Reid
The first Wednesday in December sees one of the best line ups Acoustic Wednesday has ever had with impressive local band Circus Envy returning to perform, with vocalist Paul's distinctive tone, great harmonies, well thoughtout guitar lines and percussion they really are one of the best bands in Hull with memorable songs and a great professional live performance. Circus Envy are booked in to record several new songs at Fairview studios the week after this gig and are starting to pick up some impressive out of town gigs for 2007 as well as returning to venues visited this year. Catch them at their last live gig of 2006.
The Redwood Thinkers hail from Leeds and return for their second Acoustic Wednesday gig after playing a simply storming set earlier in the year, with a unique sound, upright bass, two guitar, great harmony vocals and extra percussion since their last visit they bring their brilliant songs to entertain Hull
Joe Solo was previously lead vocalist with Lithium Joe one of Hull's widest travelled and longest running punk bands but now travels on his own playing his emotive songs with his unique performance to anyone who appreciates something a bit special, a regular performer for Music HQ he really deserves to be heard by a many people as possible.
Tony Reid is the last of Music HQ's out of town visitors for 2007 and travels across the country on the M62 from Liverpool and brings a career full of working with well known musicians like Andy McCluskey and Stu Kershaw from OMD and Jeff Wayne and even recording demos in Nashville with the bass player who appeared on Smokey Robinson's soul classic Tears Of A Clown, on any other week Tony would be the headline act but on his first visit to Hull he will be opening the show.
13th December - Cracktown's Christmas Special (The Acoustic Menance)
Music HQ's Christmas party is a little different to the norm as Acoustic Wednesday is given over to Hull's acoustic terrorists Cracktown to put on possibly the wildest Acoustic Wednesday yet. Having wowed The Tigers Lair on a previous performance Cracktown could not wait to come back and drag with them their posse of alternative acoustic acts. Expect biting satire, sly humour, poetry, guitars being mangled and more at The Christmas Party to end all Christmas Parties (please note the playing of Merry Christmas Everybody by Slade is highly unlikely !)
Also of note, anybody who has played at Music HQ's gigs during 2006 is invited to return for the Christmas knees up and will be allowed in free to thank them for supporting the Acoustic Wednesday gigs with their performances.
Acoustic Wednesday is held every week at The Tigers Lair, 63 Anlaby Road, Hull, HU3 2AJ and its reputation and credibility is spreading far and wide, to Australia, America and even Huddersfield!, with acts from outside Hull clamouring to appear alongside the home grown talent.
